Psychotherapist and Life Coach
I am a qualified cognitive behavioural therapist and life coach I have memberships to a number of governing bodies and psychological organisations such as The Society of Holistic Therapists and Coaches, Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists, Hypnotherapists. The British Psychological Society as well as The Stress Management Society. I am fully insured to practice and have a full clear DBS.
After becoming qualified in the UK I was fortunate enough to study CBT under the founder and leading authority on CBT at The Beck Institute. The training I received from Dr Beck and Dr Hindman at the Beck institute was the best psychological/ therapeutic training I’ve ever done and I fully intend on doing more with the aim of becoming registered with The Academy of cognitive therapy.
I am committed to developing my knowledge and skills further and I am always undertaking continued personal development training in various therapeutic and psychological subjects.
I live in Hampshire and I use CBT to teach adults from all over the UK of all ages and backgrounds how to manage stress and anxiety using simple yet powerful skills that help reduce the negative effects of stress and bring peace and balance to their lives.
I don’t just offer the style of counselling where you sit and “tell me how you feel” Instead I offer a unique blend of different approaches from counselling, CBT Life coaching, NLP and Relaxation therapy combined with empathy and life experience which has evolved over the years to become very effective and useful in helping people in a variety of situations.
I’d like to guide you on your journey from where you are now to where you’d like to be.
"I turned to Ian because, I have known him for many years. His advice was clear and helpful. He made me see that I had been carrying a lot of extra weight, that I needed to do more things for me not just for others, that I needed to stand up for myself in my relationships and that I could create filters to prevent anxiety from taking me to dark places. Since working with Ian I have learnt many things, mainly that I get to choose how to react to things, that how I behave is really important and that things need to be dealt with and talked about or they just hide, away waiting to surprise you at any given moment in the future. I still feel I have a way to go with all of this but I'm happy to say that I feel I am on the correct path now"
"The past year has been one of the hardest years of my life. Ian helped me gain clarity, reduce anxiety at work, sleep better and most of all enjoy life. With just a few tips and his understanding of the human psyche Ian was able to make any situation easier to deal with. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for guidance in difficult times"
Before I met Ian I was in a very bad place I had tried every other therapy and medication going, nothing was working. When I first met Ian I said to him this has to work for me because if it doesn't I honestly don't know how I would go on. By the end of the our 1st meeting he had already turned things around for me to the extent where my panic attacks had near enough completely stopped, he had also completely changed my way of thinking about everything which has improved every relationship and aspect in my life. Ian is the most kind and caring therapist you could ever wish to meet. He always goes above and beyond the call of duty, iv even had him on the phone at a moments notice when I have just needed to talk to him just to get me through a difficult period. You could not ask for more and I would not hesitate in recommending him at all to anyone. Not only me but my family owe Ian a lot without him I really don't know where I would be if it wasn't for him. Something which I will never forget.
In my darkest time I had lost all hope, my dear death experience had scared me to the point I no longer wanted to be the same person anymore. I was recommended to see a male therapist named Ian. I really wasn't keen on the idea of this as I don't feel it helps and prefer talking openly to females. I normally just feel judged or under pressure to pretend that I understand what's going on within psychology… how wrong I was. Ian is by far the greatest thing to happen in my life since sliced bread. Not only do I feel more in control of my life again, I feel in control of my mind. He is a down to earth guy. He doesn't take you the long way round the houses, but is more than happy to if you need or want to. The way he can see into the mind and witness patterns, trends and cycles leading nowhere is amazing. He is very courteous and totally embraces that we as people are all different (if not slightly mad). I've never realised it before but you can actually change the way you think, the way you feel. You can make happy experiences more happy, you can build on your mind as if training it in a gym. I never knew any of this to be possible until we started to talk. Sure, my life has been turned upside down and I'm going through a lot right now, but it will pass, and I'm working with the most positive outlook I've ever had in my entire life. Everything that can happen will happen. We can all get through anything, and with Ian's help, you will.
