I am a professionally qualified counsellor, supervisor, couples therapist and trainer. I have been practising for over 10 years with both adults and young people and I am an accredited, registered counsellor with the BACP – Registration No: 034248.
My approach is Humanistic (integrating Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt therapy depending on the needs of the client) and although my work tends to be long-term with clients, I can and do work on a short-term basis. I can also work in a solution-focused way and am currently employed by Employee Assistance Programmes.
My specialist areas include abuse, depression, addiction, and relationship issues. I am passionate about supporting individuals with the issues they bring to counselling. Throughout our relationship (which I believe is the key to successful therapy), you will learn more about yourself and be able to identify any obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your full potential.
Having an environment whereby you feel safe enough to disclose/let go of any negative beliefs and explore your feelings can be hugely healing and aid self-acceptance. I can also help individuals to look at how they interact and act, based upon their behavioural patterns learnt as a child. This helps release old feelings and expresses emotions in the present. Once self-awareness evolves, individuals then have the choice of changing the way they relate to the outside world.
"Empowered is probably my big one, but I am now understanding a lot more about me and how my brain works. I won't allow myself to be hard on myself anymore".
"You had a good understanding of my issues and were very professional and understanding."
"You encouraged me to reach my own conclusions and to trust my own judgements. I am able to call on inner resources to help myself when low moments strike."
